Jholmol is a homemade biopesticide and biofertilizer that helps to improve crop yield while lowering costs for farmers and reduce the use of harmful chemical. It is prepared by mixing and fermenting locally available material like cowdung, cowurine, water, micro-organisms,FYM, manure and plant parts in a definite ratio. It controls insects, pests which attack and damage crop, protect crop against fungal and vector borne diseases and support improved plant health.
i) Mix urine ,water,Jeevatu and possible solid elements.
ii)Wait 2-3 weeks in winter and 2 weeks in summer until odour changes and green colour appears.
iii) Filter if needed (Jholmol:3)
JHOLMOL:1
In 50 litres of black drum,
17 kg well-decomposed cow dung or FYM +16 litres of cow urine + 16 litres of water +1 litre Jeevatu
Application:Pour the slurry direct on the soil at the bottom of the plant root zone.
JHOLMOL:2
In 50 litres of drum,
No solid material,24.5 l of cow urine + 24.5 l of water + 1 l of Jeevatu
Application:Pour the solution in the plant ,covering the leaves and stem.
JHOLMOL:3
Chop the leaves and stem of locally available plant with bitter, sour or pungent test and fill the drum with equal amount of cow urine and water.
+ 1 litre of Jeevatu
Plant ingredients in Jholmol :3
Asuro (Malabar nut or Justicia adhatoda)
Sisnoo(Stinging neetle or Urtica diocia)
Titepati,Bakaino,Neem, Sayapatri,Aaru,Banmaro
Ginger, chilly, garlic, onion, timur, tulasi and many more with bitter, sour or pungent taste.
Application:Filter the Jholmol:3 and apply on plant leave with filterate and reminant on roots.
USES:
i) For Nursery unestablished and young seedlings, mix 1 litre of Jholmol + 15-20 litre water.
ii)For well established and mature plant,. mix 1 litre of Jholmol + 3- 4 litres of water.
ADVANTAGES:
i)It will reduce negative impact of chemical on soil.Pesticides have adverse impact on both human and environment.
ii)Cost effective: It will reduce cost which are used to buy chemical fertilizers.
iii)They are eco-friendly in nature.
The application of Jholmol has virtually eliminated the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers leading to safe vegetable production .Thus the practice has resulted to reduce exposure of the farmers to toxic chemicals used as insecticides/pesticides and reduced the use of chemical fertilizers contributing to the production of safe food ultimately leading to organic vegetable production.Besides, farmers have been able to save the expenses occurred in purchasing chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
